How do I use the Edit mode menu bar in Grid 3?

The menu bar at the top of Edit mode in Grid 3 is a set of toolbars that allow you to quickly navigate through commonly used commands. These are accessed by selecting the appropriate tab at the top of the page.

In the top left, there will always be two buttons, allowing you to Finish Editing and Undo your last change.

The right hand side always provides access to Settings, Grid Explorer and Help.

Grid Set

You can see all grids within your grid set from the Grid Set tab. The following functions can be accessed from here:

  • New grid – add a new grid to your grid set
  • Add from another grid set – add a grid from a different grid set the user has
  • Save all changes – Save the changes you have made in this editing session
  • Export grid set – Export the grid set as a file on your device
  • Jump to – jump to the selected grid
  • Copy – make a copy of the selected grid
  • Rename – rename the selected grid
  • Set as home – set the selected grid as the home grid
  • Delete – delete the selected grid

Home

The Home tab

The tab that is visible when first entering Edit Mode is the Home tab. This tab comprises of the most used functions:

  • Finish Editing – leave Edit Mode, it will ask you whether you want to save your changes
  • Undo – Undo the last change you made in this editing session
  • Copy – Copy the selected cell(s)
  • Paste – Paste any selected cell(s)
  • Delete – remove the selected cell(s)
  • Change Label – change the words on a cell (this may also change the words in a write cell)
  • Picture bar – select a picture to display on the selected cell(s)
  • Find Picture – find a picture to display on the selected cell(s) (more options than the picture bar)
  • Edit Picture – edit the picture that the selected cell(s) is using
  • Remove Picture – remove the picture from the selected cell(s)
  • Cell Accessibility – change how the selected cell(s) can be accessed, or hide them

Style

The Style tab

If you want to change the appearance of a cell, or modify the appearance of multiple cells you can use the Style tab. Within this tab you will find the following functions:

  • New Style – Create a new style
  • Drop-down style menu – Apply a style to the selected cell(s)
  • Rename Style – Change the name of the style selected in the drop-down style menu
  • Shape – Change the shape of the selected cell(s)
  • Fill – Change the background colour of the selected cell(s)
  • Border – Change the border colour of the selected cell(s)
  • Surround – Change the colour that surrounds the selected cell(s)
  • Font – Change the appearance of the text within the selected cell(s)
  • Size – Change the size of the text within the selected cell(s)
  • Colour – Change the colour of the text within the selected cell(s)
  • Update Style – Save the changes that you’ve made to your selected cell(s) to the style
  • Reset – Reset the custom formatting on the selected cell(s)
  • Theme – Choose a preset theme

Layout

The Layout tab

There are many functions which can change the design of the overall grid, rather than individual cells. These are found in the Layout tab:

  • Insert Above – Insert a new row above the selected cell
  • Insert Below – Insert a new row below the selected cell
  • Insert Left – Insert a new row to the left of the selected cell
  • Insert Right – Insert a new row to the right of the selected cell
  • Delete Rows – Delete the rows that include the selected cell(s)
  • Delete Columns – Delete the columns that include the selected cell(s)
  • Row Height – Change the height of the column(s) that include the selected cell(s)
  • Column Width – Change the width of the row(s) that include the selected cell(s)
  • Cell Layout – Set the position of the symbol within the cell
  • Empty Cells – Choose whether empty cells are visible or hidden
  • Spacing – Set the distance between the cells

Grid

The Grid Tab

There are some functions that can affect each grid individually, these are found in the Grid tab. They are the following:

  • Background – This allows you to select the background colour of the grid or set it as a picture you have saved on your device
  • Grid Commands – You can add a command that activates when you land on the grid
  • Scan Blocks – You can manage, or create scan blocks here.
  • Audio Highlighting – Manage the audible descriptions of the grid
  • Computer Control – Choose whether the grid is a computer control grid or a normal grid
  • Position – If the grid is a computer control grid, change the default position
  • Size – If the grid is a computer control grid, change the size
