How do I set exceptions for Smartbox software in my antivirus?

It is important to keep your antivirus software up to date to protect your device from malicious software and other threats. Depending on your software, you will either be prompted to update, or it will update itself automatically.

To ensure Smartbox software and devices work correctly, you will need to add the following exceptions to your anti-virus. Depending on which anti-virus you use, the process to add exceptions will be different.

For Windows Defender/Security (Windows 10), you can add exceptions by:

  1. Open the Windows Start menu (four squares in the corner) and select Settings (the cog symbol).
Settings in the Windows Start menu
  1. Select Update & Security, followed by Windows Security from the left hand side.

  1. Press Open Windows Security and browse to the Virus & threat protection tab.
Opening Windows Security
The Virus and Threat Protection options
  1. Below the Virus & threat protecting settings heading, select Manage settings
The Manage Settings option in Virus and Threat Protection
  1. Scroll down to the bottom of the page that follows, below the Exclusions heading, select Add or remove exclusions.

Add these files as exceptions in your antivirus software:

  • C:\Program Files\Sensory Software;
  • C:\Program Files\Sensory Software\ssUtils\SensoryScanner3.dll;
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Sensory Software;
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Sensory Software\ssUtils\SensoryScanner3.dll;
  • C:\Users\Public\Documents\Sensory Software;
  • C:\Users\Public\Documents\Smartbox
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Smartbox\Grid 3
  • C:\Program Files\Smartbox\Grid 3

Add these processes as exceptions:

  • C:\Program Files\Sensory Software\The Grid 2\The Grid 2.exe;
  • C:\Program Files\Sensory Software\ssUtils\ssLicenceManagerOOPa.exe;
  • C:\Program Files\Sensory Software\ssUtils\SensorySwitchInput.exe;
  • C:\Program Files\Sensory Software\Common\Speech\Sensory Speech.exe;
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Sensory Software\The Grid 2\The Grid 2.exe;
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Sensory Software\ssUtils\ssLicenceManagerOOPa.exe;
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Sensory Software\ssUtils\SensorySwitchInput.exe;
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Sensory Software\Common\Speech\Sensory Speech.exe;
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Smartbox\Grid 3\Grid 3.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Smartbox\Grid 3\Grid 3.exe

Known issues with third party software

With some third party antivirus software (McAfee, Norton etc.), some of Grid 3’s files will be quarantined due to the aggressive nature of the antivirus programs. It is recommend to turn off Real Time Protection and then reinstall Grid 3 if you have one of these software titles installed.
