How do I save a contact from an SMS or Email in Grid 3?

In Grid 3, it is possible to save contacts from a received Email or SMS using the Edit Contact command and a contact editing grid.

Some grid sets (e.g. Fast Talker) already have a contact editing grid included. For grid sets that do not have on as standard, you will need to create one for yourself.

Creating a contact editing grid

  1. Open your chosen grid set, browse to the three lines (top left corner) and select Edit grid
The Grid 3 menu
  1. Select the blue Grid Set button (top left corner) and select New Grid
The blue Grid Set button in Edit Mode.

  1. Give your new grid a name and press OK. The layout (rows/columns) does not matter at this point, it can be changed later if required.

Note: we will need to use the name of the grid set later to jump to it, so ensure it is named something memorable!

Creating a new grid in Grid 3.

Grid 3 will automatically take you to your new page. Selecting an empty cell and pressing Create Cell from the left hand side will allow you to add commands to the page. You can find all the contact commands under the Contacts editor category.

The Grid 3 command list.

The only required command is the Contacts editing cell which will display the contact information from the SMS or email. Other commands can be added depending on how much functionality you want to include. You may wish to add a keyboard into your grid (using Letter commands found in the Chat and writing category) so you can edit information directly. Once you are happy with your grid – select Finish Editing to save your changes.
